For this unit we could either write our own brief or enter a live brief. I thought it would be the best option for me to try and complete a live brief or a few smaller live briefs that would sustain my work through the 10 weeks of this project. I already know that I want my work to be illustrations for children so i've started by looking up live briefs for children's illustrations, particularly children's picture books.

I've really liked the brief's for this award over previous years, however the chosen text for this year seems to be aimed at older children and teenagers rather than my target age range of 4-7 years old.

Although this live brief sounded quite good, it's already past the deadline so it wouldn't work for this unit and also I wanted to be able to create my own narrative and characters like I did for the final two units of Level 5.
At the end of Level 5 my tutor recommended that I enter the Macmillan prize this year so I decided to look it up to see if it could work for this unit. http://www.panmacmillan.com/macmillanprize
The brief for this year closed back in april, however because the brief for this is basically the same every year I can still start to work on it for this unit with the intention of entering when it opens for submissions again.
