I'd also like to point out again that the photos of cats I did not take and are only reference material I sourced from the internet to help me draw the cat character.

Cat Character
One thing I discussed with Salv during my workshop with him was about giving the audience clues e.g. later the 'claws' trying to get through the window will be revealed as branches so have the branches in the background of day scenes earlier in the story. Another thing we talked about we giving the little girl character a friend so she isn't totally isolated for most of the narrative, keeping both points in mind I decided to make her friend her cat (because the cat will be revealed later in the narrative as well having him as her friend also gives clues to the reveal). Here are some drawings I did for the cat character, at the moment I don't know if I want to give him texture like i've done with the other characters but I will probably trial it out soon -

Main Character Edits
One of the things I got feedback on in my tutorial was that I needed to make the characters more believable. That lead me to look back over my roughs and redraw certain character movements e.g. If the mum was picking up a heavy box she would have her knees bent to do so. I also wanted to change the little girl 'running scared' since all of my characters were simply side on I wanted to introduce a twist in her body as if she really was running away and glancing behind her, I think it's worked really well for that character movement.
Workshop
I had a workshop with Salv. the other day about narrative and sequential images. We were given a mini brief in the workshop to produce sequential images from a list of paired words. Since my personal work is about shadows and things being scary at night I chose Day > Night. I actually found the workshop really useful since I was having trouble with moving forward away from my character design and into concentrating on the spaces they inhabit. Here are some of the things I created that morning..
1. House from day to night -
2. Coat hanging from day to night -
3. View through curtains from day to night -
4. Cat getting closer from day to night -
I also talked briefly with Salv about my personal project and was able to create a few quick rough sketches to help me with my work.

Moving Boxes
One bit of feedback I got after my most recent tutorial was to make more of the idea in the story that the family is moving house. It's a chaotic time and there would be moving boxes everywhere casting shadows and the little girls own belongings would look different in the dark and be in unfamiliar places in a new house, so i've drawn a series of different moving boxes to use in the background of my images.
